Oh Mike, what kinda steel did you use for your holders? Was it just plain ole Hot Rolled?

Nice idea, that swing-up holder.
Me, I've been threading with the compound slide infeed and retracting via the cross-slide so long (over 30 years) that I don't think I could ever wrap my head around using one of those. ;)

Steve, the steel is good ol' mystery metal from the scrappers, hot roll processed. Not the nicest finish, but workable.
Pix, I haven't tried it yet, but you have to have one to try it, so it made the list. Actually, I don't know how useful it will be, since the lathe isn't made to stop at a shoulder. I'm more likely to do SAE threads anyway, so I'll need to make a threading dial so I can drop off the half-nuts.
