I am making a custom fine feed banjo for my 7x14 lathe. I have 20 and 80 tooth gears, from a laser printer, that are the same mod as the 7x change gears that I want to use.
Is there a formula to calculate the center to center distance of meshed spur gears? I would like to lay out the holes for the gear axels without having to allow for adjustment for tooth mesh, making the attachment of the banjo via a clamp on the lead screw bushing.

Chuck,
This might help you http://home.scarlet.be/mini-draaien-frez...am-01.html follow the instructions to rename the file when unzipped.
Have not tried the gear calculator yet seems to be a good program.
