Hardinge Cataract Lathe
#1
Does anyone on here know anything about these lathes.

I have a chance to purchase this for what i think is a half decent price but i dont know anything about them.

I have been on Lathes UK site and read all that Tony has written..

It comes with a full 5C collet set, two chucks that fit into the 15/16 collet.

i envision this lathe to be quite handy at turning between centers small stuff and it would sit on my bench quite nicely.

Thanks Anthony.

Those lathes were originally designed by Elgin and were acquired by Hardinge when they bought Elgin out. They are high quality lathes intended for small precise work like watch and clock making, but they have no provision for threading. It would still be fun to have one if the price was right.
