Good point
The shop was well ventilated (double doors open)
I was looking towards the humorous side of things.
On reflection i see how my comment about warming the shop up could have been taken seriously
It would not bother me (in fact i would be happy) for you to edit my post accordingly

John,
Nice job.
What I would like to know is, why are the first welds done with MIG, and finished with a "stick" welder. I can see with the "stick" there is more weld, so can't a MIG welder put a large weld down?
Now for the second question, why not use "stick' for all the welds?

John,
Just an FYI.
You have 24 hours from the time you post a message to edit it. After that, a moderator would need to do any editing.

Hi
Dave
I just fancied doing some welding
The first weld is with TIG
Then a run of MIG
I could have just stick welded the hole job
But with a TIG root weld you know the job will be good
My mig welder is a bit underpowerd for steel that thick
Basically i was just playing with my welders
John
Is that ALL you did today

It will be used for aluminium
I have ceramic crucibles but not one this size i have melted bronze in steel crucibles before
But now i use ceramic ones
You get better heat transfer
