More progress! The changeable wedge now has it's backer installed,
The Cylinder mount is mounted and the hydraulic tank/axle is tacked on (only tacked--just in case there's a positional adjustment required).
Oh yeah, the hitch mount is fabbed and welded on.
Here's a pick of a cyl. mount fillet weld, 5/32" 7014 rod at 160 amps.
I started to mock up the engine and pump mounting and revisited the pump mount that I'd fabbed, somehow my addled mind decided that the mount was too long and would require that the lovejoy coupling halves would need to be extended beyond their shafts so I decided to shorten the mount I had made. I cut out the calculated (miscalculated) extra and machined the cuts so the reweld would have a modicum of alignment.
A beer and lunch sent me back to the shop where I realized I'd forgotten to include the rubber spider between the lovejoy halves
So remanufacture of the engine/pump mounting adapter was begun.
Things really started to slide here (shoulda had TWO beers with lunch).
I needed my 4 jaw to reface the motor flange and being too weak to mount the D1-6 four jaw on the 16-60 I decided to unscrew the 3 jaw from my ole 12X37.
I unscrewed the jaws of the 3 jaw so a projection could interfere with it's reverse direction and unscrew the chuck when I slipped a 2 x 6 in between a protruding jaw and the rear way of the bed.
What I succeeded in doing was to strip a few teeth of one of the delrin gears in my gearhead conversion.
I guess I'll hafta put the heavy 4 jaw on the 16X60 to get the job at hand done.
An appointment with the gear dentist (me) will have to be arranged.
