Another break from the cabinet shop dust. A chap brought this in to see if it could be fixed. Front drive axle out of a 70 hp tractor, a new one is a little over $1000, so its worth a try, told him it would have a tail light warranty (the warranty lasts till your tail lights leave my driveway),
It fatigued at the snap ring grove. Odd pattern, it lines up to the yoke on the universal.
The plan is to drill the two parts and use a 1/4 inch dowel to align them. Chamfer the axle end weld in the core to say 3/4 inch, machine it down and put a split sleeve in and weld that up.
