Wood to metal cutting conversion of vertical bandsaw

I bought a 1/4hp motor with an 18:1 built in reduction drive on Kijiji (canadian craigslist) and it basically bolted into my Trademaster vertical bandsaw with no modifications aside from boring out an old pulley I had to fit the 3/4" shaft. I need to do some testing to sort out exactly what sfm I'm running the blade at currently but it's cutting steel nicely. From experience and feel I think I might be running a bit slow but I'm never in much of a rush anyways and at least I won't be burning up blades.
