Ok while on the subject it has been said or wrote some say to use the
Williams style with the 16 degree angle and some say do not. (backrake)
Since going to a qc tool post on my SB lathe, all the lantern stuff got
donated to the shaper (Atlas). Most of the time I dont even use a
holder cause my holders are limited to 1/4" so I just shim up 3/8 bits.
And then I made my own key, spline, internal gear holder from my
old boring bar. I tend not to believe what I read and hear about, I do
what works for me. I read somewhere on a site if a twist drill can be
used on shaper or lathe. Absolutly, especialy facing on a lathe. So all
I can add is, it amounts to grinding the HSS blank.
