Why the heck are lathe spiders so expensive? 300 bucks for an aluminum one? Not a chance. 3D print to the rescue.
Took about an hour, because 85% infill. 7.5mm thick, because that is approximately half the depth of my chuck jaws. And the beauty of 3D printing it is, I can make other size ones by simply scaling it in the z direction and printing another as needed.
