[attachment=16811]Hoping / planning to attempt a gas engine this winter. Bought a set of plans for a Holt 4 cylinder engine, ya go big or go home.
The timing gears are 32 DP, can't find a chinese set and need at least 4 cutters so singles would be spendy. Saw an article on using a non-spiraled broach. The center teeth cut the depth and the adjacent ones round out the tops, similar to a gear rolling in a rack.
Made a test cutter out of O1, works but need to cut the teeth deeper, I'm topping the gear teeth before I get to the dia measured over wires, similar to threads,
Today I made a depthing tool to check the gear spacing
