Yes there are many factors indeed. Annealing cases will increase their useful life, as will loads of moderate power using the slower burning powders, which can reduce stretching that results in head separation; also many self loading firearms can be brutal on ejected cases, rims being distorted and mouths dented, so thirty to forty is quite an achievement, your chamber must be of a very close tolerance.
