You're looking at this wrong.
First of all, it makes my wife very happy that I would make an effort like this "for her" (scads of bonus points there). At the same time this is used to justify my recent purchase of a spin indexer, set of collets, and the Hamer digital 3D taster I bought a couple of weeks ago. It's a "win, win, win" for a couple of hours of effort in the shop where I want to be any way. 
Been with the wife for over 30 years and still going strong.
