Parting Tool Failures

I've been reading, but hadn't had anything worth talking about, until now. I bought a GTHR16-3 parting tool, thats about 10 years old, I had an insert bust and didn't catch it until it screwed up the tool. So I ordered another tool, the inserts wouldn't stay in during use. The supplier sent a replacement, the same issue, they sent new inserts, it would not hold them either, they took one of the shelf put the insert in and it was obvious the tool was made wrong. The supplier sent a new replacement, it was the wrong hand, they overnighted the new correct tool, and it was the right tool and it holds the insert. The supplier ate all of the shipping cost and the gave me a huge discount on the tool, for my ordeal.

I did learn one lesson, never walk away from the lathe, in operation, if I saw the insert break, I could have avoided the whole debacle.
