Typical behavior in a lot of shops. That came up quite a bit in shops I worked in whenever there were around 300 pieces of an automatic transmission spread out over a couple of work benches. They would add parts to the pile, or take some away, or simply swap them around to get them out of order. The ones that got caught playing this little game usually came in the next day to find their tool boxes with newly added zerk fittings installed in the back and an empty 30 gallon grease drum nearby.
