My best friend set up his shop in an unheated garage in Maryland and very quickly discovered that even 40* temps made anything metal too cold to touch for long periods of time as one would when making a cut with a mill or lathe. He would up sending $$$$$ on a gas powered radiant heating system. So yeah, the furnace makes perfect sense, especially in Nebraska.
