Oh! I see now the point you are making…
Well, I am not in disagreement about the reliability or the accuracy of digital calipers, I only use them when I need to (roughly) know how much under or over the dot after the zero. Other vice, I use non digital calipers, easier and faster, till I get any better to use micrometer. What I am building, by adding means of my capability and my machines are not so up to your level of scale to requires the precision you mean.
I don’t have micrometer yet and I am not good enough to use for thousands anyhow. So, I am lucky if I get close 0.04 to 0.20‘s. I only hope to get there, someday.
