It looks to me like a couple of those tools do use CCMT inserts. It looks like a right and left hand tool in the kit. The others appear to be a couple of diamond shaped insert holders and some others. If he got them cheap enough, I can't see why they wouldn't be useful. This all said not knowing what brand they are and what he paid for them.
