I think the only option is to turn up a sleeve to take up the "space". I wouldn't use it as is. To me that is just asking for trouble. The correct size stud would be way (way) too big for the slot / t-nut, which is why the previous owner did a half-arse job.

In fact, that QCTP may be too much for that lathe and a smaller (AXA or BXA) might be a better option.
