I didn't see exploded assembly views in the quick read of the manual, but what I've seen on other machines with taper attachments is a spacer ring that takes up the shoulder length on the tail end of the cross slide screw when the attachment isn't used. Mine (for which I have no little hope of ever finding a taper attachment) uses a thrust bearing back there too. You remove a spacer bushing of about 20mm O.D. x 14mm I.D. x 10mm long and the taper attachment bracket displaces it. I don't know how your machine deals with adding the block.
