There's virtually zero chance of :no damage" to the pistons on a diesel, and everything about the combustion chamber on those is critical to smooth operation. Best of luck to you.

Also hoping you can get oil flowing through all the elements of the lube system on your mill so you can move on with the mechanical reassembly.
