Customizing a field stock for a pump shotgun
#5
I'll come out of the closet and admit I swing both ways and work wood. I only ever use a 40 tooth 10 inch blade for my cabinet work. I've tried finer blades but don't see that they cut any smoother but like to burn the wood. Cut down slow and you should be fine, you'll get more tearout at the side facing the fence than the bottom.
If you scribe the cut with a utility knife you'll get zero tear out, works wonders on veneered plywood.
Free advice is worth exactly what you payed for it.
