A guy probably wouldn't be making a finish cut with a DOC of .100 anyway, more likely .010 with an error of .0001 and plenty close enough...
Set the compound at 60 degrees (or is it 30?) and its dial will be direct reading on the diameter, if the x2 is bothersome. A $3 calculator works too - measure, subtract target, divide by 2. If you do any grinding, the compound can be set at 80 degrees and the readings will be in tenths.
