That's the price you have to pay when turning wrenches for a living Ed. You need to have a lot of them because unfortunately one size does not fit all.
For some reason they haven't yet been able to invent a single torque wrench that can accurately tighten the tiny screws in an automatic transmission valve body to 6 inch pounds, and 230 foot pounds for the crank bolt on the same vehicle.
That Craftsman beam type wrench at the bottom is the first torque wrench I ever bought. I think I was 14 years old at the time and had 3 different motorcycles completely torn apart to their bare frames sitting in my mom and dads basement. Got every one of them rebuilt and running again with no parts left over though.
