Grizzly Pan and Box Brake Question

I have some 12" X 12" X 1" plates. I suppose I could cut one down to 4" wide, mill an angle across the bottom and then take the piece to the band saw and cut a few different size fingers. I was thinking I could bolt the fingers to my benders top hold down lift the hold down about a 1/4" off the platen with spacers so the metal to be bent could slip under the bar.
