For speed and rigidity, solid carbide end mill. In the video that is a Melin drill mill. 1/4" 90 degree tip, so can peck drill nicely for 1/4" holes. Cutter will drop 0.176" into the backer board (1/4" bit). Catch is to remembering that when you design in 0.125" tabs (oops).

Greg -- your machine looks nice and rigid, so you have some other options other than plasma cutting!
Local metal scrap yard had a bunch of those extrusions... 8' long, with dented ends. So they were scrapped.
