advice on moving south bend mill

Ive had a little time here and there to start cleaning up the ole girl. It had a lo to crud packed on and in it. The quill return spring is shot, I have it wound as tight as it can go, still no return. I was brain storming and thought, maybe I can adapt a quill return spring assembly from a drill press. Just gotta find one with the right dimensions and think about it a little more.
