is it a question we all ask lol oops wrong topic but correct question
ok back on track i made a english wheel awhile back for the son an me so i not have to pay 300 dollars for a custom chopper rear guard plus my boy can make nearly all the panels for cars he restores for people .my top wheel is 6inch dia and is made from 2 harley stator covers welded together then lathed flat .my son wants a bit blarger wheel an i have a 8inch dia bit of 6061 which ive had for yrs .if it works i can cut a bit 3inches wide then machine the axle hole ect .my question is will 6061 be hard enuff for rolling steel an alooys .my arbors on bottom i made from a hydralic ram but the wheels wont run on each other ,hope i made sense new meds this week

If you're just talking sheet metal, I don't see why not. Someone in the 7x yahoo group is using skate wheels and another guy is using Delrin. They're making fender panels.
