I have the chance to buy at a very reasonable price a 2 x 48" belt grinder. Having done some research it appears that this size of belt is not readily available here in sunny Canada. Can anybody recommend a good supplier in the USA as I can get them shipped to a US postal address.
A general search using the size will give you plenty of choices.. think you should not have very much trouble finding sources.
What the hell is with Canada it's not an island, that makes ya'll have such problems buying stuff? Need to drive over to the falls, cross the boarder, rent a PO box state side....

Huge country, small population so not economically attractive to many companies. Most of us have US postal addresses for that very reason and we just gave to hope the boarder guys are feeling generous every time we cross, is not much fun!
Has anybody tried cutting a 6 x 48 belt and extracting a 2 x 48 belt from it?
The thinking behind this is that the 6" belts are the same price as the 2" belts so im thinking I can get 3 belts for the price of one. Are they too time consuming and difficult to cut or am I being too tight?

if you get that belt grinder that will make a smashing HSS tool grinding tool as well.
I picked up on your other thread about lack of tooling... a very simple made jig for the belt grinder will grind up your tooling looking like it just got finished on a surface grinder.
Google and Youtube belt sanders and research what people have made and what they do with them pay attention to some designs that allows you to change the grinding position to make them more flexible.
Im gathering materials right now for which is in essence a miniature belt grinder made with a 4'' Metabo angle grinder its going to be a Linisher for a Flat bed truck im building.. Belt sanders are the Tits..
