Making Parts For Early 1900's Motorcycles

One of our customers rebuilds and sells parts for antique motorcycles all over the world. 


I mean REALLY old motorcycles, as in early 1900's vintage through the 1920's. 


Here's a beautiful example of his handy work. 

This is a 1919 fully restored motorized bicycle right down to the wooden handle grips wrapped with leather strips. Absolutely beautiful!!


I'm not exactly sure if we made any parts for this particular restoration, however we do make a considerable and varied number of parts for him.

Nice Bike . FWIW the first Harleys were bicycles.. The engine featured automatic inlet valves and a 3 1/8 x 3 1/2 inch bore and stroke.

and if memory seves me they use it for the postal service.
Like most of the 65 or so motorcycle builders in the U.S. in the early years of the 20th century, Harley-Davidson had humble beginnings. William Harley and brothers Arthur, Walter and William Davidson began producing motorcycles in a 10-by-15-foot back-yard shed in Milwaukee.

Only one prototype and two production bikes were built in 1903. And only 11 motorcycles were produced from 1903 to 1905. But by the end of 1905, the company’s one model, a single-cylinder, 24.74 cubic-inch (405cc) motorcycle, had earned Harley a reputation for building quality machines at a reasonable price.
