Billy G's Die Filer
#31
I put this print, post #30 over the top of the print in post #25 and put them on the back porch window.. The holes are a perfect match. Looks like I got it right this time.

OK, so what piece are you referring to when you said "That piece is made from 6.000 diameter 6061, 1 inch thick. Two can be made at the same time. I gave you a cutting guide to show this.  The center is bored to 5.000 diameter X .5625 deep, then thye parts are cut."?

Not trying to be difficult but since I've not seen a completed die filer I'm a kind of running blind here. Which is a good thing because I think the drawings will end up being much better because of my ignorance and the need to ask copious amounts of questions.

That would be the Guide Ed. Sometimes they are referred to as Guide Blocks. There are two of them and they are mirror images of each other, one right, one left.

OK, it's somewhat less confusing now but I think my original questions still goes unanswered.

"A couple of questions about the trunnions.

1. How thick is the material it's made from?
2. There are no horizontal dimensions for the two 1/4" holes that are located on the sides of the 3/4" hole. Can you supply the missing dimensions?
?"

Or am I still waiting on updated drawings for the trunnions?

Material is .500 6061. The holes are not important. They are more for show than anything else.

Billy,

Actually, after looking at your pictures of milling the trunnions, I think the two 1/4" holes are for bolting the two together for milling purposes.

I see what you are looking for. The 2 1/4 inch holes above and below . They are to bolt the sacrificial 4 inch dia. plate to center in the rotary table. The upper one is the exact center of the radius.

I will be out for the rest of the night. I will check back first thing in the morning.

Two final print changes for the mount holes Ed.

Post #25 upper right dimension 1.750 change to 1.875

Post #30 to the right change the .625 dimension to .750

These changes must be made to clear the bolt head inside the frame. It will not fit otherwise. I can post a print if you need it.
