Todays Project - What did you do today?

I got tired of digging for small tools that I use all the time and started making wooden blocks to organize them. Here's one I made for my needle files. It's Brazilian Rosewood which I know is sacrilegious, but I have a pile of it that I bought from a guy who used to work at the Bear Bow company. Next in line is a box for my thin parallels.

Nice! That's something I need to make for my small files. Mine won't be as fancy since I'll likely use red oak but it'll work just as well.

Got a chest cold , so didn't do a great deal today except putter in the shop. One thing i did get done was to dismantle and clean up a 4 1/2 in 3 jaw chuck i found while cleaning out my friends garage. It has a tag on it of "Chin Yu", must be a chinese chuck, it appears well made, and had little use. (No backing plate.) It had been sitting on a shelf for quite some time and had gotten filthy.

Just Googled the Chin Yu company it is a taiwan company. (The chuck has what appears to be a 7/8 through hole.

Why not use a flashy piece of wood for your tool holders, lets face it, we keep some of these things for a lifetime why not make 'em nice, no sacrilege there.

That reminds me, I have a piece of zebra wood that is really too small to use for anything of any size.

Today I finished the ball turning attachment I have been making for my Craftsman 12" lathe. Nothing special, just a copy of some I have seen on YouTube adapted to mount on the Craftsman cross slide. Tool should turn balls up to 4" in diameter. Thanks to PixMan for help on getting the insert mounted correctly on the tool post. I knew nothing about the rake of the inserts and had to make adjustments to the top of the tool post to accommodate the insert. Here are a couple of picture of it on its' maiden voyage.
