hi well in fact you is not far of the mack by adding sum heat if its acrylic the top will melt and leave the surfes scratch free BUT only do this 1 if its thick and 2 you is not bothered if it goes wrong i did all sorts of stuff at the university with plastic is display cases to acrylic domes

The repair on the clock is first class
