I've now bought some serial taps but as it's going down to minus 6 tonight I expect I won't be going into the workshop anytime soon. Review when it warms up a bit! Big Grin

Wow, it's +6 here in NS,Ca. I guess "global warming " hasn't hit the UK.

80.6 F here today (27 C) and raining. I hate it when we have wet cold days.

With all the cold Canadians endure, we don't spend much on things like deodorants! Lol

I had a chance to try the M8 serial taps today and I can't say I'm convinced yet. The number 1 tap went in really well. As it does'nt remove much material it took much less effort and it centred into the prepared hole much better than a normal tap. The number 2 tap does'nt have enough of a lead ground on it IMO so took a lot more force and I was worried it may even cross thread. Ditto the number 3 tap but less so. Overall I must say I'm a bit disappointed but I'll see how I get on with some of the other sizes. If I had a tool and cutter grinder I'd maybe regrind the lead on the number 2 tap and try it again.
