Boxford traveling steady - doubleboost - 10-11-2012

Hi
Lads
I have been buisy making a newZ axis screw for my mill
I have had problems with the screw bending the deeper the threads are cut
The traveling steady Boxford supplied is totally useless for the job intended
It is just something to put in the cupboard with the rusty change wheelsSlapheadSlapheadSlaphead
Before i scrap any more stainless round bar i will make a new steady
It will be a bronze casting (aluminium is not strong enough and cast iron takes to much melting)
On with the pictures

It ends up in the middle of no where

I hope to get it cast this week end DroolDroolDrool

Looking good John , looks like the new one will be closer to in line with the tool, the new one is more or less what my Harrison one looks and mounts like. Looking forward to seeing it in bronze Smiley-signs107Drool

Looks like some poor kid is missing their hockey stick!

I hope the weather is good for casting John, as I'm looking forward to seeing the results. Nice work thus far.

This is why you need a riser block on a 626 mill
