Looks like a good project Ed.
Not as fancy, used an old keyless chuck off a dead cordless drill, it seems to grab hard enough for the taps that are to small to run in with the mill. Also handy with a chamfering cutter to de burr holes by hand.

I have one of these so I don't plan on making one. I just thought there was a lot of good information on that site. I bought mine a couple of years ago but it still sits in the box it came in until I get my shop organized and a new workbench built. They sure have gone up in price. I think I paid $78 for mine and now they go for $250.

Here's the main page for that web site. Lots more information there.

I've seen that guy's website many times before. Amazing how many tools in total the guy has bought, how good his photos are, and that he actually still finds time to make chips now & then.

Not too many of the tools I have are bought because I "might need them someday", but there's a few. That guy appears to do that 10x over what any normal person would do. I have nearly every size Starrett tap wrench made, in both styles. He has that, plus competitive brands, high-end ratcheting types, crappy designs, unique designs, and so on. And he does this in every type of tool imaginable. It's almost like he abhors the idea of someone else might own a tool he doesn't have.

I guess most of us have at least one obsessive-compulsive bent, that must be his.

I like f350ca's idea really well! I think I will have to make me something along those lines with my lathe when I get it! Looks like it should make a simple project that I could use a lot! Thumbsup

That's a good idea. I never thought of using it to chamfer. 6799
