The fellow that gave me the vice called and asked if I wanted a piece of steel plate he found in the basement. It was about 12" x 12" by 1". Not exactly sure what I'm going to do with it but ...

Arvid, that guy deserves a bottle of something decent to crack open when he's unloaded at the new home....

And yes, several Lovelaces of suckage!

3 phase 415v 50hz in, 3 phase 415v 0-200hz out. Going to plug this into my RPC and give the lathe the volts it's been begging for.

you sure it can handle a brand new VFD

RE: Latest Delivery - Pete O - 11-09-2015

Not brand new (who can afford that?) but appears to be in pretty good nick. Just been turning some 4140 and the lathe really labours with a .020 cut, can't even spin the big 4-jaw chuck up to speed in top gear. 415v 3-phase motor doesn't seem to be satisfied with 240v 3-phase for some reason.
Down side is that the RPC is pretty noisy, now I'll have to listen to it when using the lathe as well as the mill. I can see the idler motor being banished outside when I can find enough 4-core cable at the right price.

Resawed some 6x6 timbers for a friend of a friend a while back. Said he had a small bandsaw, did I want it. Sure, thought I could add a gear reducer and make a metal cutting saw out of it.
Well he dropped it off today before I was out of bed.

Its already got the gearbox built in, There is a rod you rotate to engage the gearing  for metal cutting.
Now anther restoration to do.
