Yup. Big enough, and nearly twice the size of where my shop in now. The problem is the electrical power and having a tenant right above it. Being a two-family house to upgrade the power I would have to spend upwards of $4,000 and perhaps up to $5,000. Then I have to spend a grand on cleaning it out, including dismantling the walls that were my darkroom and print handling room. Add sound insulation and heat, move the machinery, I'm well over $15K maybe up to $20K.
Sell the machines and much of the tooling, put $15K in my pocket, fix up the living areas of my home.
I'm going to stand pat for now and see how things look by the end of the year. By then, the young couple will have a better sense of what their needs are and what they can tolerate. I do know that within 5 to 10 years they will be looking to sell and move closer to where they both work. That will be the death knell for my shop, no doubt.

I just have the sneaking suspicion that not having a shop might do your head in somewhat. Of course, you are welcome to use mine at any time

I would LOVE to have my parent's home, but it's better I stay here. I grew up in that neighborhood and it's changed. My home is going to serve me better as I age, believe it or not. We'll eventually move to the much smaller first floor flat, and the rental of second floor one would easily pay all my utilities and taxes. Being only three steps up and easy to install a ramp if one of us ended up needing a wheelchair, plus the wide front door makes it desirable. I have a somewhat infirm 67 yr old woman in there now. This property is extremely low maintenance too.
We'll see how it goes until next spring. If a change must happen, every effort will be made to get my shop here before I give it up.

Got the rest of the plumbing needed for the power draw bar and some Gits oilers to install on my lathe which is seriously lacking them in key places.

Stumbled on these in the local classified by accident:

Four matched, ground and hardened block that are approximately 2" x 1" x 5/8" and three machinist jacks that extend from 1-1/4" to 2-1/8". Apparently the blocks were machined specifically to fit the ways on a horizontal mill but I figure that they will come in handy.
He was asking $20 for the lot, so I contacted him and told him to consider them sold. He lives about an hour away from me but virtually next door to a colleague at work. Her husband grabbed them for me and apparently the guy selling them is/was a tool and die maker.
