I'll go along with that Willie, needed screws for my indexable end mill. By the time I got those at 5 something each and added enough other stuff to get free shipping from KBC tools a couple of hundred dollars had evaporated. But have to give them credit, it was overnight delivery to Calabogie, and nothing gets here that quick, other than bills.

Here is what was inside. My new DRO Pro's 3 axis DRO. I was a bit overwhelmed at first trying to figure out how I was going to do the install, but I'm starting to figure it out and feel more at ease.

I got my new vice last week too. More on both coming up soon. I took the swivel base off already.

The DRO installation does take some time to get it attached and aligned, but believe me it'll be a whole new machine to you with it!

Mike - PM me your address and I'll email the installation guide that I got with my DRO. It only covers X and Y, so I'll be following your post to see how you do the Z axis.
From what I have read thus far, the read head needs to be as close to the knee as possible, to reduce any error caused by the knee sagging once the locks are undone.

I have not yet had to purchase any additional carbide insert set screws, but before I do I'm going to research the possibility of buying a bag of socket headed screws from McMaster and modifying the head. If it works it will sure be a lot cheaper than $5.00 each.

It's not that hard to install a DRO, just very time consuming. It's worth the effort though.

I have not mounted it yet or put a dial on it. Looks like it will have to wait until after the DRO install. The vice looks great for the money.

Not much to brag about, mostly just replenishment of depleted supplies. With Enco's free shipping on orders over$29, I got a gallon of Vactra 2 way lube for $18 and threw in a new 3M Scotchbrite EX2 wheel. In a separate delivery the day before yesterday I got 7 new Valenite VNMS331-C5 grade UK20 profiling inserts.
I will say these new EX2 wheels are a LOT heavier than the EXL I had bought a few years ago. I opted for a 6x1 in "fine", the silicon carbide abrasive. The one I have been using is a medium and it's only worn down by about an 1/8" to 3/16" on diameter despite heavy abuse deburring and polishing anything and everything I throw at it. I think it's at least 5 years old.
The Vactra 2 was only $18 and it shows up just as I'm getting bottom of the gallon I got about three years ago.
I don't need more turning inserts, but these are just the cat's meow for turning aluminum and actually breaking the chip. Because aluminum cuts so easily you can rough at pretty high rates even with a relatively weak geometry. For $5 each (including shipping) they were a fair bargain.
