For small broaches like that, I just use the quill on my mill to push them through. It doesn't take much.

I bought a HF arbor press many years ago for a project that never happened. It took longer to clean the decades of crud off it that it took to press the broach through.

But I think for sizes that small, a drill press would be more than enough.

And after just a few minutes with the arbor press, this is the result:



Cutters are very sharp, and all the parts appear very well made.  1/2" bushing was a nice slip fit in the 1/2" bore of the part.  Since the bushing and shim are both shorter than the part, I ran it through from both ends.  I am pleased with this purchase, and wish I had gotten it years ago.

So much easier than doing it on a lathe or in a shaper.  Smiley-signs107
