Clear coat options? - lazylathe - 02-20-2012 Hi, I am in the process of restoring an old Clausing milling machine. For paint i am using a Alkyd Gloss Enamel that is pretty hard and resistant to oils etc... I do not really like the amount of gloss the paint has and am looking for ideas or options for a protective top coat. looking for something that will of course bond to the paint and have a rock solid clear finish. Also it has to be brush-able since i do not have the facilities for spraying. Any ideas or options? Andrew RE: Clear coat options? - DaveH - 02-20-2012 Andrew, I just better say from the start, I'm no paint expert (by a long way). That Alklyd paint is specifically formulated to stop anything "sticking" to it. So to get a clear coat to stick may be a bit tricky. I would be tempted to have a chat with a manufacturer. :) DaveH RE: Clear coat options? - krv3000 - 02-25-2012 hi all i have ever used is car lacer i get beter results with celelos than moden acrilc |
