Anyone have any experience with 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS for Makers? - arvidj - 12-22-2024 Was looking around and found this … 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS for Makers … which seems like a good chance to try it out. Anyone have any experience with it or SolidWorks in general? Goal is for models that will be used in a 3D slicer. RE: Anyone have any experience with 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS for Makers? - rleete - 12-22-2024 I have been using SolidWorks for about 27 years. My degree is in "Computing Graphics", which was a fancy term for CAD back in the early days. What do you want to know? BTW, I will be buying that very same thing tomorrow. RE: Anyone have any experience with 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS for Makers? - EdK - 12-22-2024 I don't have any experience with SolidWorks so take this with a grain of salt. FreeCAD has gotten really good in the past six months. And of course it's free. I have experience with Solid Edge Community Edition which is free. It's fully functional with the only restriction is that if you were to purchase the commercial version it will not open files created in the Community Edition. Ed RE: Anyone have any experience with 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS for Makers? - arvidj - 12-23-2024 This may be a false alarm on my part. There are two flavors offered on that web page. One was very complete and full featured for the great price of $49 a year (some reasonable restrictions apply). But it only runs on Windows. The other option ran on Windows a Mac, but didn’t have anywhere near the same set of features. As such, it is a nonstarter for me. Back to my Rhino3d I guess. |
