Lantern Chuck - EdK - 08-19-2024 I got the parts printed for the prototype and mocked it up. It appears it should work fine. I didn't print threads on the screw end or on the nut. For test purposes I just made them a press fit since I had no plans on actually chucking it in the lathe and trying to cut a screw to length with it. Pretend that the #8 screw is actually a piece of 3/16" drill rod. It's the depth stop for the bit holder. I thought I had a piece but no 3/16". The range of screws that I want this to be able to modify is #4 - 1/4" so I made collets for the smallest and largest sizes to test out. Sorry for the blurry picture holding the #4 Phillips head screw in the chuck. That set screw shown on the collar of the last picture will be a dog point set screw that will fit into a slot milled into the bit holder to keep the holder from rotating.
