Knackered parting tool holder - Dell - 01-19-2024 Well yesterday I ******** my Glanze parting blade holder so what to replace it with , I use the Myford rear tool holder with the parting blade upside down the Glanze holder has 8mm shank, suggestions please. Dell [attachment=18565] RE: Knackered parting tool holder - rleete - 01-19-2024 I bought this one recently: https://www.ebay.com/itm/225951437627 I haven't tried it yet, so I can't comment on how well it works. Is the description correct or the picture? Mine uses 1.5mm inserts, I wanted the thinnest one I could get. Ed RE: Knackered parting tool holder - rleete - 01-19-2024 Tool shank is .395 (10mm) square. Inserts are about .098 or 2.5mm. the blade part that holds the inserts is thinner than that, so it looks like it could hold the thinner ones. RE: Knackered parting tool holder - Highpower - 01-19-2024 I think the blade part needs to be narrower than the insert width so that the blade portion doesn't rub inside the cut. RE: Knackered parting tool holder - Vinny - 01-22-2024 That looks like the one I got from Shars on ebay. Works quite well. A few guys on the Logan list are using them too. RE: Knackered parting tool holder - Dell - 01-23-2024 Just had this reply from Chronos the UK supplier for Glanze regarding my damaged parting tool holder. My reply was if you use a rear parting tool in a lathe with screw on chuck it has to be upside down because the lathe can’t be run backwards otherwise it will unscrew the chuck. Hi Thanks for the email- i have not seen that happen before- Can I ask why it was used upside down??? Regards Mark RE: Knackered parting tool holder - Highpower - 01-23-2024 Unfortunately that happens from time to time when you get someone that doesn't have a full understanding of their own products. I had a number of employees at a welding supply company tell me that a certain type of filler rod does not exist when they have it listed for sale on their own web site. RE: Knackered parting tool holder - Dell - 01-24-2024 Have bitten the bullet and purchased a Myford rear parting tool and post. https://myford.co.uk/acatalog/REAR-TOOLPOST--30-148-1559.html RE: Knackered parting tool holder - Dell - 01-24-2024 Chap at Chronos gave me a refund even though I had had it for a long time although only used twice, can’t fault that. |
