Amazon 3rd party sellers. - Highpower - 06-22-2023 Spent the last 5 days in sweltering heat because my furnace blower motor cooked itself. Last night it was 105°F in the house with every single ceiling fan running wide open. Miserable. I ordered a new blower motor on Amazon and 3rd party sellers were the only option. I ordered the same exact part number as the original motor. So what do they do of course? Sent me a cheap aftermarket motor instead - through the USPS, hence the 5 day wait. The wire gauge is only half the size of the original motor. But as hot as it has been and we haven't been able to sleep at night, I got the wife to install it today anyway. All I had to tell her was the local HVAC place would want $2,000 to do the same job. She is a real trouper. It kills me that these places get away with this and Amazon does nothing about it. I could have bought the motor they sent me for $75 less from a different 3rd party Amazon seller. It's supposed to get even hotter this weekend so there was no way I was going to return it. RE: Amazon 3rd party sellers. - EdK - 06-23-2023 That just plain sucks! Ed RE: Amazon 3rd party sellers. - rleete - 06-23-2023 Contact Amazon anyway. The only way they know is if you tell them. They may remove the seller or force them to give a partial refund. Amazon will go to great lengths to protect their reputation, and shady sellers are often treated harshly. Be sure to include pics of motor, copies of invoice, etc. I had a similar situation several years ago, and they gave me a complete refund and banned that seller. I did, but I'm not going to hold my breath on Amazon doing anything. This seller's reviews shows they have done the same thing to other buyers in the past. Before I complained to Amazon however I sent the seller a message (through the Amazon system so they have a record of it) asking for a partial refund to make up for the cost difference between the two motors. In that message I even included a link to the same aftermarket motor they did send me from a different Amazon 3rd party seller for $325. They charged me $400 for what was supposed to be an original GE Genteq motor just like the one I was replacing. The seller replied this morning by politely telling me to go pound sand. So I reported my displeasure with this response to Amazon and the ball is in their court. The seller even stated the part number that was was sent to me in their reply message - and it's not the same as the one described in the listing title nor the product description. But again they have done this in the past to other buyers and yet they are still on Amazon continuing to do so. I thought maybe it was just an honest mistake with the other buyer(s) when I looked at the reviews and they would send me the correct motor after all. How stupid am I? RE: Amazon 3rd party sellers. - Dr Stan - 02-05-2024 I always bought motors from the Surplus Center in NE. Good quality, good prices and fast shipping. |
