Source of the old Empire parting tools - alan856 - 06-27-2018 For some time now I've been looking for good HSS cutoff blades. Having watched Joe Pie's talk about parting off I became more interest in HSS. I've tried the Shars indexable parting tool - and both ends were bent open on the first run! I found a nice Empire Tool Co. 1/2" tall, 1/8" wide cut - and it fits nicely in my 250-007T holder. I've read that Empire is one of the old standards, but initial searches found nothing. Here is the first link that responds: http://empiretool.com/ There are some very tantalizing pix there but - this site is abandoned. It turns out Empire Tooling Co. has been sold, and now are being produced by Miller Broach, Inc (http://www.millerbroach.com) - phone 810-395-8810. Miller ONLY makes the HSS parting tools - Holders have been taken over by BME Screw Machine Attachments (http://www.bmeattachments.com/). This is a fairly commercial vendor and the smaller parting tools hobby machinists might used are a bit buried on the site. But they are very friendly on the phone, as is Miller. BME's phone is: (810) 937-2974. Both companies are in Michigan, US. I have no affiliation with either company - just passing this on FYI. It was a real pain to find this GOOD stuff, so maybe it will save somebody some time. I have 2 PDF catalogs but can't seem to get the to show up as an attachment... Best Regards - Alan R.
