My first rifle build - 7mag - 04-27-2017 Started this a long time ago and just recently got interested in trying to finish it. Started from scratch with round stock I had laying around and a Marlin 880 barrel in 22lr. Still got a couple metalworking issues to work out and a lot of wood to shape up. RE: My first rifle build - 7mag - 04-27-2017 Most metal work done RE: My first rifle build - awemawson - 04-27-2017 I hope you're not planning to shoot that apple off anyones head :) ....oh no, that was bows and arrows ! RE: My first rifle build - 7mag - 04-27-2017 Put the death grip on the walnut stock and whittled away on my little mini mill. Mill sure did complain even with new carbide mills. RE: My first rifle build - TomG - 04-27-2017 Blending wood and metal is always fun. :) One word of advice: The bases of rimfire cartridges have been known to perforate with a firing pin, which results in hot gasses coming out the back and into your eye. An easy solution is to O-ring the firing pin, so if that happens, the gases will be arrested before they can ruin your day. Tom |
