Opinions needed..pls - pepi - 09-30-2016 Would you all take a look at these two lathes and post what you think. First one, jazzed by the size of the chip, video on bottom right side of page. http://www.machinetoolonline.com/PM-1127-VF.html This is the second contender, the one cross feed capable. http://www.machinetoolonline.com/PM1030.html They are 700 dollars apart, that is a small difference. So let er rip .......... Thanks in advance, greg RE: Opinions needed..pls - dallen - 09-30-2016 I'd get the 1127 if it was me, to many reasons to list why, spindle bore being top of the list RE: Opinions needed..pls - Dr Stan - 09-30-2016 (09-30-2016, 09:18 AM)dallen Wrote: I'd get the 1127 if it was me, to many reasons to list why, spindle bore being top of the list Hands down the 1127. RE: Opinions needed..pls - EdK - 09-30-2016 Definitely the 1127. It has longitudinal feed via a real feed rod rather than using the half nuts like the 1030 uses. The 1127 comes with a nice wedge type QCTP set so that's also a nice plus. It's an option for the 1030. Ed RE: Opinions needed..pls - Highpower - 09-30-2016 +1 to all of the above. Another vote for the 1127. Spindle bore. Feed rod. Tool post. Pretty much the same set-up I have on my lathe, so maybe I'm biased... RE: Opinions needed..pls - Vinny - 09-30-2016 And here's yet another vote for the 1127. That 1030 reminds me too much of a mini lathe. RE: Opinions needed..pls - the penguin - 09-30-2016 Its not a Monarch 10EE, but the 1127 is very usable. RE: Opinions needed..pls - Sunset Machine - 10-01-2016 Opinions, right? 3-bolt direct mount spindle? Really? No power cross feed? Really? Calling a 1-1/2" bore "big"? Really? Sorry. Ed RE: Opinions needed..pls - the penguin - 10-01-2016 I like the fact it has a separate drive for the feed, your not relying on the lead screw for carriage motion, unless your threading. |
