Magnetic Chip Screen - the penguin - 09-04-2016 About 8-10 years ago, when I was doing tons of cast iron machining, I used constant stream of air to both clear the chips and to cool the cutter. I had a folding magnetic chip screen, with 3 panels, each about 9" x 12". the chips were blown off the work and the majority would adhere to the energized screen. At clean up time the screen was put over a trash can and the power was shut off, allowing the chips to fall off the vinyl skin, covering the magnetic mesh. One of the panels stopped working and I stopped using it, now it seems to have disappeared. Has anyone else got one of these or have you seen one, I would like to get another one, but so far the search has come up empty. I'm looking for a manufacturer's name. RE: Magnetic Chip Screen - Dr Stan - 09-10-2016 Sounds like they are simply an electromagnet which should not be difficult to reverse engineer. |
