The Randa type B - RandaB - 06-24-2015
I am a teenager and have recently restored a Randa type B lathe, of which I cannot find any images on the internet.
So I figured this was the right place to ask - Does anyone know how many of these were made, or possibly even how many are still in operation (I've already used mine quite a lot)?

First of all Jason,
!Nice work on getting the machine up and running. I love seeing young people getting interested in things like this, a much better activity than lying about staring at texts on a mobile phone.
While I can't possibly answer your questions about the production numbers nor how many of those (or any) lathe made would still be in use, I speak for all of us when I say we'd love to see some of the work you've done with it. We love sharing.
If we (or I) can help you in any way, just ask. Your query about production volume of the machine isn't a common one, but we're collectively pretty good at helping with actually making parts on the machines.

I am very into engineering, so using a phone is not familiar to me, whereas late nights in the garage are!
Mostly I use the lathe for model locomotives in '009' scale, scratch building them in brass and copper (With steel and aluminium thrown in).
The frame and second flat belt pulley I made for this lathe too, welding 1 inch x1 inch mild steel tube together and the pulley cast in aluminium from an old Volvo amazon 120 and turned down.

Good job on the lathe Jason. There is something very rewarding and therapeutic about rebuilding old machines.

I've also been working on a fibreglass box to fit over the changewheel gears, having so far made a chicken wire and plastic mould.
