Saw Mill - f350ca - 04-08-2012 Hi Mentioned in my introduction that one of my current projects is a saw mill. Here's a couple of shots of it outside. It should handle 30 inch logs 16 feet long, not sure I'll be able to man handle them though. Using a 14 hp Isuzu diesel, probably could use more power but its what I had. Can post some detail of he parts if anyone wants. Love how easy it is to post photo's on this site. Greg RE: Saw Mill - doubleboost - 04-08-2012 Propper job John RE: Saw Mill - aametalmaster - 04-08-2012 Now you got my attention I have wanted to build a sawmill for 25 years. My family is in the sawmill biz http://www.bairdbrothers.com/ and i want my own LOL. I bought blueprints for one like yours and have hundreds of pics that i got off the net but i live in town and my neighbors would kill me. I have 3 logs still on the stump waiting to get cut up. I topped them 4 years ago and figured no one would steal them if i left them on the stump and they keep growing...Bob RE: Saw Mill - DaveH - 04-08-2012 Greg, Wow - you really did mean a saw mill Yep, show us the details of the parts - always interesting DaveH RE: Saw Mill - ETC57 - 04-08-2012 Greg, I see a portapower pump what's that for? Love the saw!! Jerry. RE: Saw Mill - f350ca - 04-08-2012 (04-08-2012, 12:05 PM)ETC57 Wrote: Greg, The blade manufacturer wants 1100 pound tension on the blade. I made a hydraulic cylinder with 2 square inches area, its attached to the idler sheave, now 1100 psi on the pump tensions the blade properly. Greg RE: Saw Mill - ETC57 - 04-08-2012 So Bob, you made your own hydraulic ram very cool and thanks for the explanation. Jerry. RE: Saw Mill - stevec - 04-09-2012 "Bob" ???? RE: Saw Mill - f350ca - 05-30-2012 Escaped from the cabinet shop for a few days to get some work done on the saw mill. Here's what it looks like in a hundred pieces with fresh paint. Used a metal sealer first, Dominion Sure Seal product, DOM16, with a Napa industrial enamel that you use urethane hardener in for a top coat. Now comes assembly if I can remember where all the parts go. Greg RE: Saw Mill - krv3000 - 05-31-2012 Greg hi welldun |
